Founded in 2015, the ASC Youth Panel is an excellent introduction to the ASC community and offers members the chance to meet other young people who stammer. The Youth Panel ensure that everything we do is informed by the young people we seek to support.

The ASC Youth Panel is a group of young people aged between 15 and 25, serving two-year terms, who live all over the UK. They advocate for better understanding of stammering by working with us on projects, running awareness raising campaigns and representing the charity in the media.

Meet the Youth Panel Cohort 2026-2028!

Starting in 2026, this dynamic new group has stepped into key committee roles to drive our initiatives and amplify the impact of ASC’s work. Driven by a passion to raise awareness about stammering and support children and young people, this group brings creativity and a diverse array of unique skills to the table. They are eager to apply their talents to drive meaningful change and empower others through their work.

We’re also proud to welcome five returning members as Peer Mentors, who will guide and support the new cohort as they navigate their ongoing journey.

Current committee members (elected 2026)

  • Luke Panel Lead

I am a Year 11 student, and I joined the Youth Panel to show others that a stammer should not limit you – it should strengthen you. As an aspiring filmmaker, I want to use this talent of mine to show young people that you can do anything you want – with or without a stammer.

  • Ana Recruiter

I’m a speech and language therapy student and I joined the Youth Panel because I spent a lot of my teenage years letting my stammer influence the choices I made. I want to help ensure other young people don’t feel limited by theirs.

  • Sienna Coordinator

I’m a Degree Apprentice working in the transport industry. I joined the Youth Panel to drive change and use my lived experience to improve experiences for young people who stammer – particularly in education and the workplace. I want no young person who stammers to feel alone.

  • Zulfah Communications

am a black immigration Muslim young woman, professional accounting student and a full-time customer service assistant. I joined the Youth Panel to feel more heardmore confident and be able to help people who stammer be proud of who they are and improve.

  • Amy Communications

I am currently a year 11 student, and I joined the Youth Panel to empower young people who stammer, to be the change I want to see in the world as well as show the world that everyone has a voice and that no one should be ashamed of who they are.

  • Clemmie Panel Member

work in the Research Contracts team at Imperial university and am pursuing a career in law. I joined the Youth Panel to challenge myself while also working with others that stammer to show young people the unique strengths a stammer can bring and to offer the kind of representation and support I would have valued when I was younger.

  • Olga Panel Member

Upon election, I am in my third year of my BSc (Hons) Project Management degree and work for the NHS. I joined the Youth Panel because I  want to become involved and assist organisations with being more inclusive. I also want to make a difference in the lives of people who stammer on a wider scale nationwide through advocacy and policy.

  • Pearl Panel Member

I’m a Research Assistant at King’s College London, working on a clinical trial for depression. I joined the Youth Panel because I want to contribute to the wonderful initiatives that are being run by Action for Stammering Children, and to use my own experiences to help others. I want to help other young people who stammer believe that they can do anything they put their mind to.

  • Dominic Panel Member

I am a College student studying a diploma in Music Production at Stamford college. I joined the Youth Panel to allow my experiences with stammering to help someone feel more comfortable with what they may be facing now. The ability to educate people on what the support people who stammer need is something we can all help to achieve.

What have the Youth Panel been up to?

Our Youth Panel has been hard at work amplifying the authentic voices of young people who stammer.

Recently, they developed a set of ready-to-use printable resources for our Stammer Awareness Toolkit. These materials are designed to offer pinpoint support, ensuring that advice comes directly from lived experience.

Looking ahead, the team is currently in active discussions to launch an Anti-Bullying Week campaign. This initiative aims to tackle stigma by supporting children who stammer while equipping their classmates with the tools to become effective allies.

Stay tuned for more updates as these exciting projects take shape!
