The ASC Mentoring Programme offers young people who stammer a unique opportunity to receive one-to-one mentoring from professionals who have first-hand experience navigating their careers with a stammer.
This programme has been life-changing for many, providing a safe space for mentees to build confidence, self-advocacy, and career readiness while learning from experienced mentors who truly understand the challenges and opportunities of stammering in professional settings.
“Taking part in the ASC mentoring programme really improved my confidence. The personalised matching service has been so beneficial in being mentored by someone with shared experiences and insights into industries/positions of interest.” – Lauren, Current Mentee
Why Join the ASC Mentoring Programme?
The programme is designed for young people aged 18-25 who are:
- Preparing to enter the world of work – whether that’s looking for their first job or entering a particular industry.
- Considering career options.
- Entering higher education.
- Seeking confidence in professional settings.
Over six months, mentees will meet with their mentor at least six times, receiving personalised guidance and support. The programme includes structured training, mid-programme reviews, and a closing celebration to reflect on progress.
For Mentors: Applications Open on 5th March!
We are also recruiting mentors—professionals who stammer and want to support the next generation. Mentor applications will open on 5th March, and mentors will receive training and supervision to ensure they feel confident in guiding their mentees. Many mentors find the experience incredibly rewarding, describing it as “gaining through giving” and “a journey of growth for both mentor and mentee.”
