Mentor Re-application Form

If you have previously mentored a young person on an earlier cohort and are interested in joining this year’s cohort, you can express your interest here.

Step 1 of 5

This field is for validation purposes and should be left unchanged.

We are currently inviting applications from adults who stammer for cohort five of the ASC Mentoring Scheme. We know that many of those who have volunteered to be part of earlier cohorts may be interested in mentoring another young person on a future programme. This application process is for those who have previously been part of the scheme.

What is the ASC Mentoring Scheme?

The ASC Mentoring Scheme is a 6-month programme in which young people who stammer access one-to-one career mentoring with a professional with lived experience of stammering. The scheme provides an opportunity for mentors to support young people in working towards their career goals and aspirations.

Mentees are aged between 18 and 25, and may be taking the next step into higher education and training, embarking on their first role or seeking career promotion. Are you willing to draw on what you have learnt through the course of your career to mentor a young person at the beginning of their career journey? Do you have the time and flexibility to commit to a six month programme?

We welcome applications from professionals from a variety of industries, sectors and professions with the time, capacity and empathy to work one-to-one with a young person who stammers. To apply, we ask:

  • You self-define as a person who stammers
  • Can commit to participating in all elements of the programme, including training, supervision, peer support and evaluation
  • Resident in the UK
  • Live openly with stammering
  • Take a flexible approach to working with a young person

This unique scheme is fully funded by Action for Stammering Children and delivered in partnership with Sam Simpson. It will run from October 2026 through to April 2027.
