We are pleased to announce our role as collaborators in a significant new project funded by the National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR). This three year three-year initiative, with £1.5 million in funding, aims to develop and refine SuperPenguin , an innovative app and digital platform designed to support children who stammer.

Our involvement in this project reflects our commitment to supporting research that makes a real difference to the families we work with. In collaboration with Leeds Beckett University, stammering specialists, and three NHS organisations, we are part of a project that brings together a wide range of voices within the stammering community.

SuperPenguin has the potential to transform the support available to children who stammer. The platform will offer interactive tools for parents, carers, and Speech and Language Therapists (SLTs), helping to build confidence in children, reduce anxiety for families, and ease the pressure on NHS SLT services. As partners, we will be gathering feedback from our community to ensure that the platform genuinely meets the needs of those who will use it.

Additionally, we will be organising focus groups towards the end of this year and inviting families to take part. These focus groups will provide a platform for participants to share their experiences, discuss the challenges they face, and contribute to the development of resources that will benefit others in the community.

If you are interested in participating or would like to learn more about how you can get involved, please do not hesitate to get in touch with us. Together, we can make a significant impact on the lives of children who stammer and their families.
