Announcing our new Growing Voices project in County Durham
We are thrilled to announce that applications are now open for our latest partnership project, Growing Voices – an outdoor club for children who stammer.
Growing Voices is located in County Durham and led by our partner and specialist Speech and Language Therapist, Jaclyn. The sessions offer a friendly and supportive play group specifically designed for children aged 7–12 with a stammer.
These outdoor sessions focus on child-led play, creating a natural environment where every child feels empowered to build their confidence and share their voice at their own pace.
Children will enjoy a variety of nature-based activities, such as:
- Exploring the woods and forest activities
- Creative arts and crafts
- Planting and gardening
- Interactive talking activities
Jaclyn brings a wealth of expertise in supporting children who stammer and their families. With her child-centred approach to building children’s confidence, these sessions are designed to foster joy, new friendships, and a supportive space for talking and listening.
Growing Voices kicks off with an Easter Fun Day taster session on 17th April and will run until December 2026. The programme is made up of 10 Youth Club sessions that will run on Monday evenings and 6 Fun Days. You can find the programme dates at the end of this article.
Please note this is not a formal speech therapy session.
