At Action for Stammering Children, we’re proud to once again support the City St George’s University of London Intensive Group a transformative one-week programme for young people aged 13–18 who stammer.

Running in person from Monday 28th July to Friday 1st August 2025, this course brings together speech and language therapists, young people, and families in a supportive, empowering space where communication can truly thrive.

Our Role: Championing Access and Inclusion

At ASC, we believe that every young person who stammers deserves access to high-quality, specialist support — regardless of their background. That’s why we’re funding a dedicated bursary scheme to remove financial barriers for low-income families living in London.

Our bursary covers:

  • Full course fees
  • Travel expenses within Zones 1–6 for the young person and one parent/guardian
  • A £10 daily lunch allowance for the young person

A refundable deposit of £50 is required to confirm the funded place, and will be returned after attendance.

What’s the Intensive Group All About?

Led by specialist Speech and Language Therapists at City St George’s, with support from SLT students, this week-long course offers a safe, teen-friendly space to build communication skills, confidence, and resilience.

Young people will:

  • Explore ways to communicate more freely and confidently
  • Gain deeper understanding of their stammer and speech
  • Connect with other young people who stammer
  • Build confidence through fun, creative and goal-focused activities
  • Learn tools to manage anxiety and reduce tension around speaking
  • Grow a stronger sense of self and feel empowered in everyday interactions

Support for Parents Too

A dedicated Parents’ Session will take place on Wednesday 30th July, focusing on:

  • Building your confidence in supporting your child’s communication journey
  • Managing transitions, teasing, and stressful situations
  • Learning more about resilience and emotional wellbeing in relation to stammering
