The Talking Out Online Group 2023 – LAST FEW PLACES

Talking Out Online is a specialist online intervention for teenagers who stammer. The course is fully funded by our charity.

The course will run for 4 consecutive afternoons. It combines speech and language therapy, individual challenges, whole group and one to one work in an online format. The aims of the intervention are to develop:

– Confidence in communicating.

– A more positive attitude to speaking.

– Decreased sensitivity to stammering.

– Problem solving and self-help skills.

– Positive thinking skills.

– A peer support network.

Who is Talking Out Online for?

Talking Out Online is open to young people who stammer in secondary school (year 7 – 13, age 11 – 18) who live in the UK.

Dates

Individual 1:1 session Once a client has been offered a place in the group they will be invited to an online one to one session with one of the Talking Out team. These will take place during May 2023.

Talking Out Online Group

The group will take place on 4 consecutive afternoons between 1pm and 5pm:

Tuesday 30th May, Wednesday 31st May, Thursday 1st June, Friday 2nd June

Daily online parent sessions

Even though parents do not attend the group with their children, they have an
important part to play in it. There will be daily online parent sessions each
evening between 5pm and 6pm during which parents will meet online with
the Speech and Language Therapy Team.


How to make a referral
You can refer any young person (aged 11 to 18) who stammers if they live in
the UK.


Parents and Speech and Language Therapists can make a referral through our
website. Please note: we must have a parent referral form in order to offer a
place on the group.
